Job Description:
The Federal Reserve Bank of Dallas, Houston Branch is looking for a highly motivated and versatile Captain to work under the direction of the Chief, equivalent rank or higher, to manage the day to day operations on an assigned shift or section within District Law Enforcement (DLE). You will plan, direct, monitor and manage work flow, as well as, be responsible for performing and overseeing administrative duties. As the Captain you will lead teams, projects, and tasks as assigned and support DLE and Bank mission, vision, and priorities and goals and may act in the capacity of the Chief as needed.
Job Responsibilities:
- Maintain effective controls and administrative practices and ensure self and shift/team members are held accountable for compliance with applicable laws, established regulations, policies and guidelines; Take appropriate action to address deviations
- Be held accountable for compliance with applicable laws, established Facility Security Guidelines, Uniform Regulations, Bank Policy and District Law Enforcement General Orders and DLE Standard Operating Procedures; take ownership and appropriate/timely action to address deviations
- Ensure all Bank security and life safety systems, including but not limited to, access control and alarm systems, x-ray machines and metal detectors, radio systems, video surveillance systems, voice evacuation system, and hazardous materials gear are effectively managed and monitored and when necessary, take appropriate action to ensure security of personnel and property
- Evaluate, respond and direct staff regarding sensitive and potentially dangerous situations using sound judgment; ensure safety and security duties are performed as needed; address deficiencies and report findings to upper management; prepare required documents; respond and direct an effective response to crisis/emergency situations as needed; ensure operation plans and other security procedures are followed
- Apply good judgment and decision-making skills, demonstrate critical thinking and logical thought processes and uses law enforcement/security experience to handle moderate to complex situations
- Provide effective leadership and management of District Law Enforcement (DLE) shift operations including: overseeing planning, scheduling, approval of time off requests, coordination of operations and special events; continuous monitoring of operations; identifies and executes recommendations for operational improvements and/or efficiencies
- Ensure that shift/ team members meet high standards of professionalism, efficiency, and customer service by holding self and shift members accountable and taking appropriate actions
- Prepare effective and meaningful development plans in support of succession planning objectives; regularly monitor and assess development progress; take timely action to address performance issues
Job Requirements:
- Ability to understand financial targets/budget goals and demonstrate fiscal discipline; work with upper management on changing priorities and/or addressing unforeseen business needs
- Ability to exercise discretion and handle situations decisively, tactfully and respectfully
- Minimum age of 21 or older. Valid driver’s license issued by the State of Texas (or eligible for a Texas driver’s license) and must not be prohibited from being licensed or driving in any U.S. state
- Proficient in use of PCs, email, Microsoft Apps, and police equipment and technology systems and able to learn other computer based applications
- Associates or Bachelor`s degree from an accredited college/university in criminal justice, public administration or related field; a High School diploma or have passed a General
- Education Development (GED) test
- Must have a minimum of five (5) years in law enforcement or security and at least two (2) years
- supervisory experience in law enforcement or security related fields
Demonstrate proficiency with handling routine problems independent of upper management involvement making decisions within established parameters, guidelines and policies - Resolve conflict by encouraging open communications, confronting difficult situations, maintaining objectivity, keeping emotions under control, and using negotiation skills to resolve conflicts
