The RI Portfolio Compliance Officer (Expert) is the first point of contact on security/compliance topics for Regulated Industries and will interface/build relationships with a highly-matrixed group of stakeholders. This role requires an individual who has/maintains a deep baseline knowledge in security/compliance topics, and researches to stay abreast on the latest trends, emerging regulatory updates, emerging technological trends, and changing competitive landscape, flagging issues to keep ahead of customer requirements. This individual also has/maintains broad knowledge of the SAP solution portfolio, the secure cloud offering through NS2, and understands SAP’s global security/compliance standards, promoting adherence to those policies. A person in this role will embrace customer advocacy as a core tenant, putting oneself in the shoes of mission-driven organizations, leveraging customer engagements to conduct discovery, understand/document use cases, and fairly translate/represent customer business requirements for secure solutions to internal stakeholders. This role also requires a good understanding of internal stakeholder interests/motivations and be able to influence without direct authority, including but not limited to: sales, presales, IBU/industry cloud, multiple internal/external partners in product/security ownership/management/development, legal representatives, and government relations.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Leads the development of annual POV around internal/external security and compliance initiatives.
  • Supporting longer-term business development (both revenue growth and protection), participating in customer-facing initiatives, liaising with internal and partner stakeholders, and providing inputs to portfolio compliance strategy and priorities.
  • Owning the RI point of view on security/compliance readiness and priorities for our solutions/industries, informed by thoughtful research and supported by data.
  • Translates generic security requirements to guidance specific to our industries/solutions, defines and priorities baseline strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats.
  • Researches/interprets current and pending laws, regulations, industry standards, and customer/vendor contracts to understand and communicate compliance requirements.
  • Delivers solution/industry security/compliance positioning, provides level 1 and 2 overviews.
  • Supports leadership in the development of 3Y outlook and plan for security, compliance, and risk management strategies and operating priorities.
  • Builds confidence in our portfolio, highlights compliance strengths/differentiators, and showcases the value proposition of secure SAP solutions.
  • Develops and presents findings, reports, and business cases to leadership and stakeholders, including quantification of security/compliance risks to draw informed decisions towards determining expected financial loss exposure.
  • First point of contact for RI sales and VAT for security/compliance questions and needs.

Job Requirements:

  • Deep functional or PM skills, competency in negotiation fundamentals, experience with leadership briefings and persuasive business case building
  • Ability and willingness to travel: yes
  • Familiarity with heavily-regulated industries like US Public Sector, including Federal/State Governments, Defense, Healthcare, and Education
  • Customer-facing demeanor and executive presence
  • Demonstrated success in working in a matrixed environment, experience with large, multi-national B2B software/IT organizations an asset.
  • Fluent in written and spoken English
  • Cybersecurity expertise required, security Certifications like CISSP, CISM, CCSP, Security+, etc. are an asset
  • Knowledge of security frameworks/standards, risk mitigation strategies, best practices, and development operations principles
  • Business travel requirements: United States, Country & Regional

Qualification & Experience:

  • 7-10 years of experience working in compliance functions with the relevant realm of responsibilities, preferably in enterprise software
  • Bachelor’s degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) disciplines
  • Deep professional experience and competence in cloud security, hosted services, and SaaS/PaaS models, cloud-based commerce/ business networks.
  • Experience with creating and managing enterprise-wide formal frameworks and supporting repositorie
  • Master degree or equivalent education/experience preferred
