Job Responsibilities:
- The Bilingual EIA Financial Worker functions as a member of a case management team responsible for providing Employment and Income Assistance program services.
- The incumbent communicates regularly with clients, agencies and other stakeholders by telephone, in writing or in person.
- The incumbent calculates, processes, and issues benefits in accordance with the Manitoba Assistance Act, Regulations and policies.
Job Requirements:
- Sound reasoning and judgment in disbursing public funds
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively with diverse program participants, staff and service providers
- Effective French written communication skills
- Ability to maintain client confidentiality, including knowledge of The Freedom of Information Protection of Privacy Act (FIPPA) and The Personal Health Information Act (PHIA)
- Clear and concise French verbal communication skills
- Strong problem solving and conflict management skills
- Strong organizational skills, including the ability to prioritize tasks among competing demands while maintaining accuracy and attention to detail
- Clear and concise English verbal communication skills
- Experience assessing and verifying applicant information to determine eligibility for a program or service
- Effective English written communication skills
Qualification & Experience:
- Experience using Microsoft Office applications, particularly Word, Excel and Outlook
- Experience assessing and verifying applicant information to determine eligibility for a program or service
- Experience interpreting, applying or explaining legislation, regulations or policies to others
- Experience working with people from diverse backgrounds (persons with disabilities, persons who are financially and/or socially disadvantaged, newcomers, different cultures, etc.)
