Job Description:
The Harvard Medical School (HMS) Office of Research Administration (ORA) provides pre-and post-award management by assisting Principal Investigators and Faculty with proposal submission, award and agreement administration, and reporting. ORA offers a range of expertise and manages a diverse group of portfolios in support and advancement of HMS’s mission.
The past decade has seen a rapid evolution in the availability of data resources for use in research as publishers and funders increasingly implement data sharing requirements, and at the same time, we see significant growth in the complexity of the regulatory environment requiring these data be appropriately secured. In order to advance HMS’s mission, HMS ORA must support our researchers in navigating this complex landscape to identify, obtain, and manage the critical data resources necessary to achieve their important research objectives.
Job Responsibilities:
- Reporting to the Director, Grants & Contracts, the Associate Director, Research Data Compliance (ADRDC) is responsible for the development, implementation, oversight, and monitoring of a robust research data compliance program designed to support researchers through the data acquisition and use lifecycle while ensuring compliance with Harvard, data provider, and regulatory requirements.
- The ADRDC will establish and lead a team that assists researchers in all stages of their acquisition, use, and disposition of research data and advises on compliance with data use agreements (DUAs), IRB process and requirements, as well as the creation of data management and security plans.
- The ADRDC will develop and implement a robust training and outreach program for researchers and staff on a wide variety of topics related to research data compliance, including how to identify potential data resources, navigate the Harvard process necessary to acquire access, and appropriate use of acquired research data.
Job Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience and a minimum of 8 years of experience in a sponsored research, compliance, contract administration or related regulatory environment.
- University sponsored research or compliance experience preferred.
- Excellent communication skills – verbal, written and interpersonal.
- Strong experience resolving research data compliance issues, tact, diplomacy.
- Proven ability in collaborative problem-solving and willingness to embrace a continuous improvement mindset.
- Demonstrated comfort in working in fast-paced, multiple-deadline driven environment.
