Job Responsibilities:
- The incumbent is responsible for conducting systematic reviews of Designations and Sentence Computation Center (DSCC) program data to enhance management information provided to the Executive Staff and to help determine where the DSCC’s audit and review efforts should be focused.
- The incumbent researches and interprets legislation, congressional minutes and history to provide input to management and policy staff on the development of Bureau policy.
- Coordinates with the US Attorney’s office in responding to interrogatories and orders to show cause in the area of legality of sentences of confinement.
- Responsible for monitoring and preparing complex and comprehensive correspondence and documentation. Incumbent is also responsible for monitoring ADP equipment – hardware and software – that is procured, transferred, and surveyed.
- Assists the LAN Administrator and Information Systems Manager with ADP procurement plans for the division.
- The work involves evaluating the effectiveness of the DSCC’s operations by conducting internal control assessments which are designed to measure policy compliance, identify weaknesses or potential problem areas.
- The incumbent will be expected to assist the DSCC Chief and Section Chief’s with establishing branch goals, strategic plans and to improve program effectiveness. Monitors program performance information (trends, statistical data) provided to BOP Executive Staff members to ensure the information is valid, meaningful and easily interpreted.
- Incumbent is also responsible for providing a number of support services (i.e. data collection, input regarding executive staff papers) in preparation for Executive Staff meetings.
Job Requirements:
- Experience in the sentencing and methodology of combining sentences with differing structures for aggregation purposes.
- Experience in the legal resources in agency manuals, policy issuances, court decisions and precedents, in Code of Federal Regulations, and the Federal Register.
- Experience in the application of correctional techniques theories, and principles.
- Experience in the laws and U.S. Code, DOJ/BOP policy and District of Columbia statues, as well as court decisions.
- U.S. Citizenship is Required.
