Job Description:
Under immediate supervision, the Apprentice Auto Mechanic performs all minor maintenance and repair assignments and assists the Journeyman Mechanics and the Auto Mechanics as assigned. Employee is responsible for pick-up and delivery of parts for services performed on vehicles and equipment. Work requires mature judgment and interaction with employees of parts vendors and suppliers in the private sector. It does not require the employee to deal directly with the public. He/she will work generally under the supervision of the Fleet Operations and Materials Management Supervisors.
Job Responsibilities:
- Maintains a clean and orderly customer service counter, office, and warehouse work area.
- Maintains Fleet Operations/Management vehicles to be clean from the interior and
action when necessary. - Performs routine basic maintenance of vehicles including lubrication of equipment,
cleaning, maintaining equipment. - Assists Journeyman Technicians and Auto Mechanics with repairs in the shop or on
service calls. - Assists on other assignments/projects in the department when requested.
- Coordinates with Service Writers for pick-up and delivery of parts from local vendors for maintenance and repairs of vehicles and equipment.
- Performs daily readings and documentation of fuel storage tank levels, and communicates to appropriate staff.

Job Requirements:
- Job requires a current, valid Texas Class C driver’s license.
- Job requires knowledge on the use of basic tools, diagnostic equipment.
- Job requires an accredited high school diploma or GED equivalent.
- Job requires six (6) months experience in automotive vehicle maintenance or auto parts inventory systems; or equivalent combination of training and experience.
