McAllen City Jobs – Airport Maintenance Technician

Job Description:

Under immediate direction the Airport Maintenance Technician will perform and conduct preventive maintenance and regular repairs on building mechanical system, chilled water system, HVAC system, building electrical, baggage belt conveyor system, passenger boarding bridge, building access control system, boiler system, and water treatment system and sterilizer system.

Job Responsibilities:

• Inspects HVAC duct-work for leaks and provide repairs as needed.
• Measures temperature and adjust airflow to ideal conditions, changes capacitors and checks the vent systems for proper operation.
• Inspect and/or cleans HVAC apparatuses including, but not limited to blower assembly, blower housing, blower wheel, motor, evaporator coils, control boxes associates controls, wiring and water valves.
• Cleans and replaces air filters.
• Performs and/or assists the Airport Maintenance Technician Crewleader in performing preventive maintenance on the facilities equipment such as passenger boarding bridges, baggage belt conveyor belts, sterilizer, etc…
• Performs and/or assists in minor mechanical, HVAC, plumbing, electrical repairs, carpentry and painting work as needed.
• Performs and/or assists in replacing or repairing valves, water faucets and other plumbing appurtenances as needed.
• Performs and/or assists in replacing and/or repairing lighting ballast and fixtures in the airport facilities both inside and outside.

Job Requirements:

• Must demonstrate proficiency with the use of minor maintenance and electrical repairs to equipment, and the use of hand tools.
• Must be able to work with the public using tact and diplomacy.
• Job requires an accredited high school diploma or GED equivalent.
• Job requires a minimum of three (3) years of job related work experience.
• Position requires a valid, Texas Class C driver’s license.
• Must demonstrate sufficient knowledge of general maintenance and custodial duties.
• Must have experience in using a two-way radio.
• Must be associated with janitorial and maintenance equipment.
