Barclays Bank Vacancies – UNIX Administrator

Job Description:

 As a Barclays UNIX Administrator you will develop, administer and support the Chef automation infrastructure environment and all associated tooling and pipelines. You will be using your diverse skill set to do both systems administration and software development to support our automation infrastructure and hundreds of our internal customers.

Job Responsibilities:

• Provide expert technical advice to customers, chef and the larger Server engineering team members
• Develop and drive improvements in current toolsets utilizing AWS services where possible
• Contribute towards direction of Chef Infrastructure including numerous Elastic, Postgres clusters along with Jenkins, Terraform, and supports thousands of app deployments

Job Requirements:

• Knowledge of monitoring systems and concepts of large scale monitoring (Nagios, UIM, Nimbus)
• Exposure to and knowledge of virtualization, cloud and containerization technologies (OpenStack, OpenShift, Docker, AWS)
• Working in CI/ CD pipelines with Jenkins and exposure to UNIX/ LINUX
• Experience with ElasticSearch/ RDS/ Postgresql/ databases
• Effective approach to problem investigation and resolution
• LAN/ WAN, Ethernet, TCP/ IP, DMZ and routing
• Excellent analytical ability to develop complex software distribution solutions
• A number of years’ demonstrable expertise of working with infrastructure automation tools (Chef/ Ansible/ Puppet)
