Job Description:
The Fire Protection Engineer should be capable of working independently with limited supervision to complete small and large project design requirements. The candidate is responsible for leading projects for new facilities and renovation, modernization, and repurposing of existing buildings. Candidate must be well organized, able to demonstrate critical thinking, quickly recognize issues, and be part of the solution. Candidate will also be expected to:

Job Responsibilities:
- Coordinate fire protection systems with other disciplines
- Concisely express complex system solutions in very early design phases
- Maintain accurate project documentation and design data for permanent project files
- Review and approve shop drawings, respond to RFI’s, and other construction admin related tasks
- Be self-motivated with strong work ethic
- Evaluate, select, apply standard engineering techniques, procedures, and judgement based on experience to design fire protection systems in buildings
- Take pride in and ownership of your work
- Attend project meetings, both internal and with clients
- Be proficient in all aspects of mechanical systems design for projects of all sizes
- Make major design decisions and recommendations with little input from senior staff
- Act as an adviser and review correspondence prepared by junior project team members
- Assist in project quality control review
- Assist with mentoring of junior staff
Job Requirements:
- Licensed Professional Engineer (PE)
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering and eight (8) years of relevant experience, which includes experience and skills in fire protection systems design for buildings
- Experience with building fire protection systems including but not limited to sprinkler, fire alarm, life safety, and mass notification systems
- Full understanding and ability to complete and coordinate project design assignments with the ability to review team member’s work for quality and recognition of training requirements
- Ability to work on multiple projects concurrently
- Ten (10) years of relevant experience
- Experience with Design-Build projects
- Experience with U.S. Department of Defense agency requirements (UFCs, SpecsIntact, etc.)
- Successfully performed the role of lead engineer on various projects
